For one, there's not much new here compared to Warband. The to-do list was (and still is) extensive. TaleWorlds had to focus on making the game playable before tackling anything else.Ĭompared to Warband, there's not really much new. We documented some of the more serious issues early on, and a large portion of them have since been addressed. Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord is available now in early access on PC.Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord launched in a terrible state with more technical problems than one could keep up with. TaleWorlds plans on rolling out any updates mentioned through Q2 of 2022, because it's also the developer's plan to keep Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord in early access at least until then.

There will also be an upcoming Steam Workshop update to make it easier to share mods for Mount and Blade 2. This involves improvements to existing modding tools while also adding new modding guides to the Bannerlord Modding Documentation website. TaleWorlds has also confirmed Mount and Blade 2 will be coming to consoles, though this is still likely a ways out.įinally, TaleWorlds continues to work on better modding support for the game. These additions will be in tandem with updates broadly affecting Mount and Blade 2, such as a Battle Ambient Sound System meant to make battlefield sounds more accurately dispersed on low-end PCs and more localization support for 12 different languages. Individual troops will be able to be assigned to specific battle formations, and the deployment phase before battles and sieges will offer unit positioning options as well.įor multiplayer changes, TaleWorlds' plan is to include a ranked matchmaking system, a progression system with unlockable skins and sigils, an MVP award system, and more. But maybe the biggest potential change here is to the order of battle. There are also plans to allow players to grant helpful companions with peerage so they can climb the ranks of nobility. Originally introduced in an earlier Mount and Blade 2 update, the Battle Terrain System will continue to receive more battle scenes in its pool to better provide unique map setups in Calradia.

While none of these updates are blessed with hard dates, the developer insists that "work will continue on the game unabated," along with a gradual return to studio offices now that most of the team has been vaccinated against COVID-19. In a recent post on Steam titled "Future Plans," TaleWorlds discusses a long list of planned updates and additions to the game. Ranged combat, missions, and multiplayer duels in Mount and Blade 2 have all been addressed throughout early access, but it seems the biggest updates have yet to arrive.
